Equal Parenting Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to reforming family law, supporting parents in custody disputes, and ensuring children maintain meaningful relationships with both of their parents.
Our Mission
Every Child Deserves Both Parents
We believe that in the vast majority of cases, children benefit enormously from having both parents actively involved in their lives. When parents separate, the legal system should default to arrangements that preserve those relationships — not sever them.
Equal Parenting Alliance works on three fronts: direct support for parents navigating custody disputes, legislative advocacy for equal parenting presumption laws, and public education to shift cultural attitudes about shared parenting.
We are not anti-mother or anti-father. We are pro-child. Our members include mothers, fathers, grandparents, stepparents, and child welfare professionals — all united by the belief that children deserve both of their parents.

Our History
15 Years of Progress
Equal Parenting Alliance founded by a coalition of 12 parents in three states.
First state legislative victory: equal parenting presumption bill passed in Colorado.
Launched the National Attorney Directory — first free legal referral network for equal parenting cases.
Reached 1,000 active members. Opened regional offices in 8 states.
Published landmark research on child outcomes in equal parenting arrangements, cited in Congress.
Fathers United chapter network launched. 38 chapters in 22 states within 18 months.
Surpassed 4,200 members. Assisted in over 12,000 custody cases nationwide.
Active legislative campaigns in 31 states. Largest equal parenting advocacy organization in the U.S.
