I Want to See My Kids! A Guide for Dads Who Want Contact With Their Children After Separation
Tina Rayburn & Timothy Forder
Barely a week goes by without a news item about a father who wants to see his children. Many of these accounts concern the more militant dads, who express their frustration by performing daring escapades. Who can forget Batman at Buckingham Palace? But behind these stunts lie harsh realities - of fathers fighting to stay in their children's lives after divorce or separation and finding no support from the family court system.
I Want to See My Kids! is a comprehensive guide for dads who find themselves in this harrowing predicament.
A review by Ray Barry EPA Party Leader:
As a father who has first hand experience of Family Courts, I found "I want to see my kids" a refreshingly honest examination of what actually happens to parents and children once the Family Law machinery kicks in.
Unlike other books on divorce which I have read, which seem to me to present a sanitised version of Family Law in which everyone acts honestly and responsibly, Forder and Rayburn tell it like it really is. They accurately reflects a world of greedy lawyers, vindictive parents getting even with each other, and incompetent judges trying desperately to save face.
The book recounts the experiences of real dads, and draws pithy, practical lessons from each, such as: "make sure that the order correctly reflects what has been agreed in court. Be sure the contact arrangements are clear and do not allow for any deviation by mum." Simple, practical advice such as this is invaluable to dads who are new to Family Law, and who wrongly assume that their solicitor and the judge will know their business well enough to draw up water-tight orders.
Fore-warned is fore-armed, and I would recommend this book to anyone whose family is about to break up.

Parental Alienation - How to understand and address parental alienation resulting from acrimonious divorce or separation
L.F. Lowenstein
ISBN 978-1-905541-10-2
Drawing on international research, Lowenstein discusses the problems for parents and children when parental alienation occurs. His book identifies the signs of PAS. Concerned with the important task of seeking to remedy PAS, Lowenstein’s basic principle is that both parents have the right and the responsibility to guide their children appropriately. He also addresses the role of the judiciary. Both the experts and the courts need to help parents resolve their differences to safeguard the welfare of their children.
Parental Alienation addresses the important issues of mediation and of treatment. Parents with implacable hostility towards one another frequently make false accusations against another parent. The book deals with how to identify and treat accusations of abuse, and discusses the therapeutic methods required in PAS, and psychological assessment and treatment of pathologically induced alienation. Challenging, even provocative, this important book cannot be ignored.
A review by Wendy Turner. EPA Chair
Whether you are a professional involved with Parents and children who have become embroiled in the Family Court scenario; a Parent who has been alienated from their child; a child who has been alienated from their absent parent; a parenting group supporting separated parents, or simply someone who is interested in the subject generally, this book is for you.
Dr Lowenstein has broached a subject that has yet to be officially recognised by the British Psychological Society. The Equal Parenting Alliance applaud Dr Lowenstein for bringing to the forefront a condition that is very real and causes untold long-lasting damage to both alienated parent and child.
The book is divided into three main parts and sub-divided into individual chapters, which make it both easy to read and to reference. The subject matter is dealt with sensitively and in depth covering all aspects of Parental Alienation with full description of the causes and symptoms. Topics include: Signs of PAS and how to counteract it; Mediation: the way forward and Real Justice for non-custodial parents.
It is a book that can easily be read from either cover to back or 'dipped into' as necessary. It also includes heart-rending personal stories of alienated parents.
To the person who is uninformed regarding the issue of Parental Alienation, this book will educate you.
To the professional dealing with children and their families within (esp) the Family Court setting, this book will hopefully enlighten you.
To the parent whose children have or are being alienated, this book will help you to understand the complex issues facing your child.
I would recommend all credible parenting organisations to have this book in their catalogue to be available to their members. To the individual parent - if you only buy one book - make this the one.
This is the book that I wish had been written when I was deep in the unjust Family Court system. This is the book I would like the 'professionals' involved with my children, to read and consider.
This is the book I would like my alienated children to read.
